Toughbook U1 with RealityVision Reliably Transmits Mission-Critical Video and Data to and from the Field for Greater Situational Awareness, Faster Response

SECAUCUS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Panasonic Solutions Company (PSC), manufacturer of durable, reliable Panasonic Toughbook® mobile computers, and mobile video collaboration software company Reality Mobile, have partnered to provide government agencies with improved technology for situational awareness and crisis response. The new offering pairs the ultra-mobile rugged Toughbook U1 with Reality Mobile’s RealityVision® software platform. Together the technologies allow users to instantly create a shared vision of an event or location by streamlining the communications process between field personnel, an operations center and senior management. Any critical information seen in the field or on a PC screen can be shared instantly and securely with everyone who needs to see it.

RealityVision allows the Toughbook U1 to securely send and receive live video streamed over wireless networks including cellular and satellite. As a result, field personnel can push live video captured by their rugged Toughbook U1 device to a control center, as well as any other user on the network. In addition to integrating with the Toughbook U1, RealityVision also works with a wide range of devices most agencies already deploy, including smartphones, laptops, desktops and fixed cameras.

Together, the Toughbook U1 and RealityVision are transforming how government organizations, public agencies, and first responders undertake security, incident response and remote surveillance. The power of this combined solution comes from its ability to create a dynamic, real-time data and video sharing network that enables security teams to quickly exchange information about developing situations, locate the nearest response personnel and immediately counter the issues at hand. For example, Toughbook computers with RealityVision software can monitor city waterfronts, tourist destinations or industrial complexes for criminal activity through a fixed camera network and instantly transmit live video feeds to onsite officers. Those officers can then collectively visualize any suspected activity and take swift action.

“Information needs to move quickly and accurately during incident response when every second counts.” said David Kramer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Reality Mobile. “We are very pleased to pair rugged Toughbook® devices with our dynamic RealityVision software, a groundbreaking tool for real-time mobile video collaboration.”

The Toughbook U1 redefines handheld computing with an optimal combination of strength, speed and size. The 2.3-pound ultra-mobile, fully-rugged computer has a 5.6” daylight viewable touchscreen display, 32GB solid-state drive, twin hot-swappable batteries and can withstand a six-foot drop to concrete. Widely deployed by leading government and enterprise organizations, it is the optimum device to ensure mission-critical video streams continue transmitting even in the harshest of environments.

“This Panasonic and Reality Mobile collaboration brings together two companies creating solutions designed specifically to meet the most challenging customer needs, and together we are able to offer a highly rugged and mobile information-sharing solution that could drastically change the way enterprise and government personnel conduct surveillance, deploy field teams and respond to emergencies,” said Jan Ruderman, vice president of government sales for Panasonic Solutions Company.
