Technology Allowing Mobile Users to Share All or Portions of Their Device Screens in Real-Time Furthers Live Video Collaboration for Enterprises and Consumers

HERNDON, Va. – (October 19, 2011) – Reality Mobile®, a Virginia-based technology company delivering enterprise-class real-time mobile video collaboration solutions, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted another industry-defining patent (U.S. Patent No. 8,041,829)  to the company in the area of mobile, peer-to-peer communications. The newly issued patent covers the ability of a mobile user to define one or more portions of the device display and to proactively stream the contents in real-time to other remote users without any intervention on their part. The streaming feed can comprise video, audio, position data and other metadata.

This patented process is a core component of the company’s RealityVision® enterprise mobile collaboration software platform. Among other benefits, the patented technology provides a very easy way to share complex data being rendered on a device screen—SCADA data, 3D modeling, schematics, diagrams and much more—without any need for any integration with back-end systems.  Please see the company website for illustrations of the capability.

“Our newest patent award underscores the innovative nature of Reality Mobile’s technology platform and reinforces our vision of becoming the standard for enterprise class, real-time, mobile-to-mobile video and visual collaboration applications,” said David Kramer, President and CEO, Reality Mobile. “The world is a big place and the business need for real time information sharing and collaboration is paramount.  RealityVision is a comprehensive technology platform that meets this growing need and extends the reach of the enterprise into places previously unavailable."

"Our patented processes further our twin pillars for the enterprise mobile user experience—secure content and real-time context—allowing dispersed personnel to see exactly the same information at the same time and to extend on the fly the rich metadata associated with it,” added Brian Geoghegan, Reality Mobile’s Executive Vice President, Chief Product Officer and co-inventor named in the patent.
