Innovative software platform provides instant visual connection between experts and field personnel for increased awareness of remote assets and events

HERNDON, Va – (Sept. 15, 2010) Reality Mobile announced today that it will host demonstrations of RealityVision®, its real-time visual mobile collaboration software, at the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition taking place Sept. 20-22 in Tuscany, Italy.  RealityVision functions as a real-time data sharing network that enables users to securely transmit live video and information from any networked device to colleagues anywhere in the world.

Addressing the challenges of remote operations, RealityVision increases employee productivity and paves the way to faster resolution of both routine issues and unexpected events by streamlining communications between field teams and managers and experts located offsite. Any number of users can connect to the RealityVision network via a range of devices including desktop computers and smart phones. Once connected, users have the ability to push video and data from their device, as well as pull information from any connected device, including the extensive fixed-camera networks that many operators have in place to monitor remote assets.

RealityVision gives E&P operators and oilfield service companies a new response tool for events ranging from planned equipment upgrades to unforeseen crises. For example, if a piece of critical downhole equipment malfunctions, it has the possibility to halt production. At that moment, employees on the rig that witnessed the incident, managers with the authority to choose a solution, and experts with the background to diagnose the situation need to collaborate to determine the best course of action. Rather than lose valuable seconds verbally communicating the details of the scene, RealityVision enables employees on the site to immediately push live video to the appropriate managers and experts, regardless of their current location. With a common view, a solution can be reached quickly, and any schematics or data needed to resolve the issue can immediately be sent back to the field team.

“This system is designed to give energy companies a better way to manage remote operations by enabling real-time access to information and instant collaboration,” said Mike Odell, Vice President of Global Energy Markets, Reality Mobile. “We look forward to showing attendees an interactive demonstration of how our technology can help them better address the operational challenges they face on a daily basis.”

The SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition will provide a platform for industry professionals to learn more about innovations in technology for the oil and gas industry and will take place from September 20-22 in Tuscany, Italy.
